One of the coolest looking Switch control-options yet, CRKD’s Nitro Deck is now shipping

The Nitro Deck is a joy-con replacement for on the go Switch gaming, and one that looks to offer a full slate of bespoke features.

It’s the Switch, Nitro powered

If you play your Nintendo Switch in handheld mode regularly, chances are you’ve looked into an alternate option for the stock joy-cons. The little attachable controllers are okay for quick sessions, but can really get uncomfortable if you play for any length of time. And while there are third-party options out there, none of them look at nifty as the Nitro Deck.

Brand new from peripheral company CRKD, the Nitro Deck takes the Switch’s form factor and makes it even cozier, while at the same time offering a more comfortable feel in your hands. On top of that, it serves up some customizable back-buttons and stocks multiple special features like a assignable turbo, swappable thumbstick “Toppers” (for sticks that should eliminate drift), and passthroughs for charging and connectivity (via USB-C).

Here’s a look:

Pretty slick honestly, and the Nitro Deck isn’t quite done. CRKD is looking to bring a true sense of collectability to its line, starting here. To that end, the Nitro Deck has something called the “True Collection System”, which works by way of an app.

Using a smartphone, buyers can reveal their Deck’s “product number and associated rarity rank”, and join in on CRKD TV. That’s a brand new platform from the company, serving as “a hub for all CRKD-related content”, and featuring a virtual storefront. That’s just the beginning as well, as CRKD has some big plans for CRKD TV in the future. So expect some fresh functionality as time rolls on.

As you can see too, aside from all the functions, there’s some serious retro-feel happening with the Deck, with a number of colorways ready for launch. Long time Nintendo fans can harken back to their favorite era-gone-by, or pick from other options, in terms of deco. If you do go with Retro Purple, Retro Mint, or Classic Grey though, you’re buying into a bundle pack.

A “premium Carry Case (with extra game storage), a 2.5-meter USB-C Charging Cable, and an additional set of Thumbstick Toppers” are all included with those picks. On the flip side, standard Nitro Deck colors include Black, White, and Grey, and there’s also a standard Carry Case on offer that you can buy separately.

Ready to give your Switch a little Nitro? The Nitro Deck is out right now in North America via CRKD’s online shop, and will be coming to the UK and Europe on September 25th. Look for it both via the shop and select retailers.
