Capcom drops Resident Evil 4 info, announces Separate Ways expansion next week, PSVR2 this winter

One day after we got word that Resident Evil 4 was coming to iOS, Capcom delivered a second massive dose of fresh news.

Separate Ways… finally

If there’s one piece of news that arrived today that pretty much every RE4 fan has been not-so patiently awaiting, it’s Separate Ways. The hotly-anticipated DLC expansion tells the story of fan-favorite character Ada Wong during the events of Resident Evil 4’s campaign.

Fans will be able to play as Ada, as she both meets up with Leon again on his hunt for the US president’s daughter, and deals with one Albert Wesker.

In Separate Ways, Ada Wong travels to a lonely and rural part of Europe to infiltrate a village controlled by the religious group known as Los Iluminados. Under orders from Albert Wesker, Ada is assigned to obtain the cult’s darkest secret: a mysterious material known as “the Amber.” Her operation intertwines with Leon S. Kennedy’s search for the president’s missing daughter, providing an alternate perspective on the main story that uncovers events that unfold behind the scenes.

Capcom press release

Yeah, as you can see there, Separate Ways is just part of what Capcom revealed today. The incredibly impressive looking VR mode for RE4 is coming as well, and will be free DLC for PSVR2 owners some time this winter. With that, Capcom promises some up close and personal action, with “dual wielding, realistic weapon handling, enhanced knife action, and more.” And on top of all of that, Ada and Wesker will both be coming to the game’s Mercenaries Mode.

While the VR mode will be free for those who can take part and be exclusive to the PS5, Separate Ways will be a paid DLC expansion. That’ll be priced in at $9.99 USD, and arrive for the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC versions of Resident Evil 4.

Oh, and did we mention that it’s out next week? Yep, Separate Ways lands on September 21st.
