Harken back to a time of myth and legend with Dark Point Games’ Achilles: Legends Untold

And Ancient Greek world is the setting for Achilles: Legends Untold, Dark Point Games’ upcoming action RPG.

Just uh watch your heel

Yes, Achilles: Legends Untold is an aRPG, but it’s not an aRPG like you’ve probably played. Dark Point Games is crafting a game where players won’t be able to just storm headlong into masses of enemies, flailing about. That’s pretty much become the norm in the genre, but Achilles takes things and makes them a little smaller, a lot more thoughtful, and kind of… soulslike?

It does kind of have that feel anyway in the latest trailer, even if it’s just a touch. Though it’s swordplay is action-based, Achilles takes what Dark Point calls a “tactical” approach to that style. In this vision of Greek lore, and as the title hero, players will have to learn their enemies fighting moves and use what approach works best to stop them.

The newest trailer gives a nice long look at the title’s combat, and that’s including the terrible minotaur, one of the final game’s bosses.

Fights in Achilles encourage observation and persistence, but the game also spices them with random enemy behavior. The proprietary artificial intelligence system, GAIA (Group Action AI), makes opponents work together and take advantage of their surroundings to deliver coordinated attacks on the player. Such special moves cannot be easily predicted and countered, which makes fights even more natural and challenging.

Dark Point Games press release

Along with all of the enemies and brutal battling that make up the bulk of the game, aRPG fans can also expect to see plenty of paths to explore, secrets to unlock, and loot to grab. Keep a sharp eye, as all of the above will be coming to the PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 some time this fall.
