Trailer: Slavic folk-horror title Gord haunts PC and consoles this August

With a fantastically macabre trailer, the release date for Team17 and Covenant.dev’s Gord has been revealed. It’ll be scaring up an August launch.

Through the fire and flame

Team17 Digital and Covenant.dev have today announced that dark fantasy strategy game Gord will emerge from the shadows and launch 8th August on SteamPlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S. Adventurers and strategy enthusiasts alike can pre-order their copy now for all platforms. Physical edition pre-orders for consoles and digital pre-orders on Steam will receive the additional ‘Hold Your Ground’ scenario for the game’s Custom Scenarios mode, a digital soundtrack, and a digital art book; digital pre-orders for consoles will receive the ‘Hold Your Ground’ scenario only.

Team17 press release

Gord promises to be a “mature dark fantasy adventure”, filled with a lore that we don’t often see much of in any medium. That’s the Slavic variety of course, which should offer up some interesting new visions for fantasy fans.

Along with plenty of creatures to take on, ancient secrets to uncover, and a “wide variety of quests and random encounters”, Gord also adds in a sanity system. That’s more than it sounds like too, as the mental state of your townsfolk, as well as their hunger level and rampaging illnesses can all be big trouble in Covenant.dev’s new IP.

Gord is officially set to arrive for the PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 on August 8th, but you can get an early look way before that, if you’re gaming on a PC. It’ll be a part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest, which takes place from the 19th to the 26th (of June). You’ll be able to grab a demo during that time, and get a taste of what Gord will throw at you later this summer.
