First Sonic the Hedgehog movie trailer released

The first trailer for Sega and Paramount Pictures’ Sonic the Hedgehog is here. Speed past the break to get your first look at the ‘hog in action.

Gotta go fast

I’m not entirely sure what to make of the first real look at the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Have a look.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

And there you have it. Yes, Sonic looks off. Really, really off. But even so, the effects overall look pretty nice. And shockingly Jim Carrey seems like he might make for a good Robotic after all.

That quick glimpse of what’s to come also looks slick. Robotnik looks a lot more like Robotnik as Sonic fans have come to know him. On top of that, it looks an awful lot like Sonic’s world will be featured in some way.

As a long time fan myself, I have to admit this new interpretation is growing on me. If we get a trailer with Sonic’s theme music I might actually be sold on seeing this thing.

Sonic the Hedgehog speeds into theaters this November the 8th.
