Coming Up: The games of July 2018

Summer is at it’s height in the northern hemisphere, and that usually means a lack of quality titles at retail. But even so, there are a few gems to be had.

Cruel summer

This year hasn’t been all that bad for gaming. Though there weren’t a lot of big games hitting through the winter, we have gotten at least one kind of big game per month. July is right in lone with that, as Jurassic World Evolution hits today.

Out already in other parts of the world, Evolution is a park builder, which is something that we haven’t seen for a while in gaming. Of course, this time it’s a dinosaur-themed theme park that you’re building, and not one of the amusement variety. And it looks great, so that’s one to watch for.

After that, we’ve also got the excellent Octopath Traveller, which is a true evolution to classic JRPGs like Final Fantasy III. Tempest 4k has me intrigued this month as well, and so does the Xbox One edition of No Mans Sky. Then there’s the Mega Man X Legacy Collection, which is kind of a no-brainer buy for me. Those are some classics that I haven’t played in ages.

Here’s what’s coming up:
