ThQ Nordic snaps up NovaLogic franchises

Growing ever bigger, THQ Nordic just added some impressive military series’ to its collection.

THQ Nordic… NovaLogic

Don’t get me wrong, THQ Nordic won’t be changing their name again. But really, they probably could if they wanted too. With this latest spending spree, the company has acquired pretty much all of NovaLogic’s franchises. And that means that fans who love military themed games can look forward to revisiting some PC classics.

Publisher NovaLogic’s titles were absolutely huge all the way from the 80s through the early 2k’s. They weren’t blockbusters really, but they had a rabid fan following. Mainly flight sims, NL also published the Delta Force series. That’s one that I remember quite fondly personally. So you’re looking at a nice spread of IPs here, is the point.

“After 30 years of creating ground breaking Computer and Video Games we are proud to pass the baton to THQ Nordic. As individuals, they are enthusiastic gamers and as a company have shown the agility and acumen needed to propel our industry towards a much-needed reset”, comments John Garcia, owner, founder and CEO of NovaLogic Inc. “We are happy to see the franchises we created in such capable hands.”

“NovaLogic pioneered military simulations and military-themed multiplayer shooters with vehicular combat and also clearly targeted at an adult audience,” said Reinhard Pollice, Business and Product Development Director, THQ Nordic. “We are extremely satisfied with the new additions to our portfolio, and also very thrilled about how to continue some of said franchises, we are open for talks in this regard if any developer approaches us with a concept for a potential sequel to any IP.”

Classic titles reborn

So what’s all this mean for you? Well, I think it’s pretty safe to assume that you can expect revisitations for many of these games. Figure on remasters and collections at the very least. Remember that THQ Nordic hasn’t been shy about doing that, as they’ve released remasters of both Darksiders games to date, and those titles were picked up in the THQ deal.

As for new games, well you can probably expect some of those too. There’s nothing to announce yet, but I can’t imagine that THQ Nordic will let these franchises sit idle.

Here’s what’s included in this new deal:

  • Delta Force Series
  • Comanche Series
  • Joint Operations Series
  • Armored Fist Series
  • Tachyon: The Fringe
  • F-22 – Series
  • F-16 Series
  • NovaLogic Trademark
  • and more…
