Star Wars comes back to Marvel in style this January

If you’re looking forward to Star Wars’ fresh start at Marvel Comics in January, you’re going to love what the publisher has in store for the launch party.

Marvel has really been pushing these launch parties as of late for their bigger book releases, ad if you didn’t think they’d have one prepped for Star Wars, well, you weren’t paying attention.

“Brand new Star Wars comics featuring some of the biggest names in comics deserve the red carpet treatment,” says Marvel SVP Sales & Marketing David Gabriel. “We’re committed to making sure our valued retail partners have everything they need to engage regular customers and new fans to check out what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest launches of the year.”

All qualifying retailers will receive the following as part of the Star Wars #1 Launch Party:

Star Wars #1 Invitational Postcards

Star Wars #1 Promotional Pins

Star Wars #1 Skottie Young Lithographs

Star Wars #1 John Tyler Christopher Sketch Party Variant

Not just a single release, Marvel has a few titles scheduled to launch what’s essentially a brand new universe of content for them. This party though, is for the flagship book, which is simply titled Star Wars. Most of the goodies here are probably on track to be collector items too, as a switch like this (Star Wars came over from Dark Horse, who held the license for a good long time) doesn’t happen very often. Now back home with Marvel though (which is a part of the Disney conglomerate that also owns license-holder Lucasfilm), you can expect to see Star Wars comics brandishing the Marvel logo for the indefinite future. All of which makes this launch, a particularly big one, and anything associated with it, pretty dang important.

Check in with your local comics shop to see if they’ll be getting in on the festivities by December 8th (that’s the cutoff), and the catch Star Wars #1 (and all the freebies that will accompany it) in stores this January the 15th.
