Dementium II HD is a game of horror- and action

The PC update of the DS original is loaded with hardware, which you’re going to need if you’re going to take on the freakishly creeptacular beasties that roam the asylum’s depths.

Dementium II HD’s special blend of horror balances action, exploration, story telling and puzzle solving to bring about a classic gameplay experience fans of the genre enjoy. Our latest trailer focuses in on some of the intense action you will face when the twisted creatures of Dementium rear their ugly heads.

In this video you will see our tormented hero William Redmoor face off against Chest Maws, a Gorgamesh, the Wendigo Witch, The Gnaw and other hellish abominations using a number of the weapons found throughout the game. Beginning with just a shank, players will have to find new tools of survival such as the Sledgehammer, make-shift Flame Thrower, Assault Rifle and Dynamite.

I remember the DS edition (developed by Renegade Kid) of Dementium II well, and as a pretty great FPS for the handheld. There weren’t too many first-person anything’s on the Nintendo console, but Dementium (as a series) stood out from all the platformers and RPGs as title that wasn’t afraid to be mature and even downright creepy at times. It honestly kind of made me wonder why there weren’t more games like it made available, though it might have had something to do with the overwhelmingly large ‘younger’ demographic that the DS enjoyed.

Now that the title is coming to the PC and Mac though, a bigger audience will finally be able to tackle its darkened halls. And as you can see in the trailer, this isn’t a straight port as the game has a fresh coat of HD paint and is looking pretty darned nice for a shambling horde of demons.

Dementium II HD will creep onto the PC on December 17th with a Mac edition due soon after (January). Developer Memetic also promises that there’ll be some dlc hitting right around the turn of the year as well. If you pre-order right now on Steam, you can snag a neat 35% off the launch price of $14.99 USD.
