Extra Life 2012 Is Coming

Play games, heal kids, be a hero.

The time is nearly upon us once again.  Back in 2008, Sarcastic Gamer’s Jeromy “Doc” Adams started Extra Life, a charity video game marathon to raise money for the Texas Children’s Hospital.  Overall, the event managed to raise over $120,000.

Since that day, Extra Life has grown in leaps and bounds.  Last year, over $1 million was raised for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals all over the world. This year, the aim is to beat that total.

We at Brutal Gamer are proud to have been a part of Extra Life since the very first year, and we’re doing so again this year.  Extra Life is scheduled to take place on October 20th, and the aim is for participants to get people to sponsor them to play video games for 24 hours.  It’s a fantastic way to help a great cause while enjoying our favourite hobby.

This year, myself and Mike Deneen are taking part in the marathon.  Personally, I’m taking part in honour of the family members I’ve lost in the last twelve months to different conditions.  Mike D is playing in support of the hospital that helped his younger brother.

“Like I said last year, Extra Life means a great deal to me personally, as my younger brother spent the first 6 months of his life in NICU.  The hospital I play for, Gilette Children’s in St. Paul, took care of him to become the rowdy 14 year old he is today.  Kid also kicks my ass at TF2.”

If you can donate anything to the cause, large or small, you can do so at the links below.  If you want to take part yourself, you can join Team Brutal Gamer as well.
