Here’s 15 years of Total War in 3 minutes, and a tease at what’s next

Hard to believe, but Sega and Creative Assembly’s Total War series has been around for over a dozen years. To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the series, Sega has released a special trailer showcasing a bit from every game to bear the name.

Interesting little bit at the end there… and I don’t mean the guys setting trees on fire and running from horses. Aside from what might be on the way though, 20-15 is already shaping up to be an excellent year for Total War.

With the latest game, Total War: Attila, already out and making quite an impact, it looks like this is one wargaming franchise that’s not heading anywhere anytime soon. And these stats definitely back that up: over 1 million players are logging into the game on a monthly basis and they spend an average of 104 hours playing. And lest you think that’s a recent development, some 4.8 billion battles have been waged in Total War since its debut. Yep, with a ‘B’.

This year will also see the launch of the latest tablet edition of the series with Total War Battles: KINGDOM, and the release of the 10 on 10 war-game Total War: ARENA. Sega is also promising ‘more’ than just that for 2015, perhaps alluding to that odd sound/graphic at the end of the above trailer…

Sit tight Total War fans, we’ll have more for you as it breaks.
