The tale of Mortal Kombat X plays out in new trailer

Mortal Kombat X definitely has a flair for the dramatic, as the newest trailer for NetherRealm’s brutal fighting game looks to have more story than your typical action title, let alone a fighter.

Taking place 25 years past the events that played out in 2011’s Mortal Kombat, MKX has a whole bunch of new characters that fans of the currently running comic book should instantly recognize. Cassie Cage, Jacqueline Briggs (daughter of Jax) Takashi Takeda, and the son of Kenshi, all have starring roles in the appropriately bloody book. Unless I’m mistaken, Kung Jin has yet to appear, though the descendant of Kung Lao certainly looks to figure into he game’s story mode prominently enough.

It’s a whole new era for the series, represents by this mostly new squad of heroes that’ll be fighting against the forces of Outworld and the sharp-toothed Mileena. Mortal Kombat X hits the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on April 14th.

About Jason Micciche
