Disney Infinity makes the jump into the Marvel Universe

Disney announced yesterday that their popular game would be getting a sequel this year, and that it would be focused on the Marvel Universe end of the spectrum of the company’s properties.

Squarely based on the comic book end of Marvel (read: not the Cinematic Universe), Disney Infinity 2.0 looks like something for Marvel fans to get excited about. In the trailer, we saw Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and even Spider-Man and the Goblin; all great signs that 2.0 will really dig into the Marvel U and present gamers with some fun heroes and villains to play with.

The ‘playset’ for Avengers looks pretty darn cool too (no pun intended) with Loki, MODOK and an army of Frost Giants to knock around. Here’s to hoping we get a bunch more like that for Spidey, the X-Men and more.

As for the game itself, a total of 6 character figures, all focused on the Avengers, have been announced thus far (Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Iron Man, and Hawkeye). We also know that the game will be launching for just about every platform you can think of with versions on the way this Autumn for the Xbox One/360, PS4/3,Wii, Wii U, PC, iOS, and 3DS.
