Going to Comic Con and heading home with a new pet? That could happen, thanks to Strawberry Shortcake and the Purrfect Pets Pawp-Up.
Strawberry Shortcake x The Animal Pad
Here’s a new one for us, but nevertheless a pretty neat sounding happening. And yes, we’re talking about a pet adoption event that’ll be taking place this Sunday during SDCC. Said event is set to be hosted by none other than Strawberry Shortcake too. How’s that for a blast from the past?
The 80s animated and toy icon will feature at Seaport Village in San Diego this Sunday, courtesy of WildBrain. As to what she’ll be doing there, that’d be teaming with The Animal Pad. And if you’re not familiar with them, they’re a local San Diego “all-breed dog rescue”.
That leads us right into the result of the pairing, the Purrfect Pets Pawp-Up. This one day event will take place on July 26th (2026), and be housed at Malibu Farms San Diego. That’s located at 831 W Harbor Drive, where festivities will kick off at 11am (and run until 3pm).

The main goal of the Purrfect Pets Pawp-Up is, naturally, to find forever homes for needy animals. But if you already have a four-legged pal, they can come too. Strawberry Shortcake and The Animal Pad say that guests are invited “to also bring their own purrfect pets and enjoy a “berry sweet” afternoon of fun activities”.
Speaking of, activities will include meet and greets with the Strawberry Shortcake mascot, plus a group of rescue dogs. And really, they’re kind of the stars of the show.
Aside from the main event though, there’s much more on tap, including treats, activities, and giveaways. Scroll down to check out the full list of what’s planned.
