Scope Modern Warfare 4’s Kill Block and its arsenal

Fresh Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 news has arrived. Infinity Ward talks about what went into the game’s arsenal, and grants a look at Kill Block.

An all-new Modern Warfare multiplayer experience

Revitalized and ready for another round is Call of Duty, with the upcoming fourth (current) Modern Warfare title. That much was revealed a while ago, as Activision took the wraps off of what looks to be an action-packed new offering.

So far, you’ve seen a look at the campaign and more, thanks to the From the Ward video series. But there’s much more that’s left to be talked about, and that starts with Kill Block.A new mode that we told you about a couple of weeks back, Kill Block gets a detailed explanation via a new video release.

A totally new mode, Kill Block will apparently look to present a new experience for every match. That’s according to Activision, who says that the mode will take place in a single location. Be that as it may though, it’s also a locale that can morph and change.

That’s done (in game) via a series of “massive steel structures”. Said structures are called Slabs, and can change the layout of the Kill Block map between firefights. That’s meant to lend itself to a “live-fire” exercise that will try to keep 3 vs 3 and 10 vs 10 matches fresh.

Kill Block takes place inside the West Bridge Advanced Military Training Facility, an adaptive live-fire environment where the map physically reconfigures between matches. Three modular Slabs, massive steel structures moved by motors and rail-mounted tracks, combine into hundreds of possible layouts, so no two matches play out the same way.

Activision press release

Fans can look for Kill Block to be playable upon Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4‘s release, on October 23rd. It won’t be a one and done play type either. The mode will support “expanded Gunfight experiences, including 3v3 and the all-new Gunfight 10v10 mode, with additional core Multiplayer modes planned post-launch.”

Guns. Lots of guns

While the new mode is looking sharp, there’s another element that hasn’t really gotten much of a once over. And yes, that’d be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4‘s arsenal. But don’t worry, because the latest of the From the Ward videos is here, and the topic is hardware.

Most of the guns that’ll be usable in the game look to be what you’d expect. You’ve got your shotguns, your sniper rifles, and more. Though even so, there are a few surprises. For one thing, Modern Warfare 4 will have a guidable, gun-mountable, mini-missile launcher. There’s also a six-shooter that looks absolutely killer, with two firing modes.

There are a few nuggets of info in this episode of From the Ward that are right along those lines. And honestly, they’re pretty slick sounding. What you shouldn’t expect though, is for this episode of the series to be a catalogue of guns.

This installment of From the Ward isn’t really about that. Instead, it gets deep into what went into designing those weapons, from a development standpoint. If you’re into that though, it’s an enjoyable watch that sheds a tad more light on what Modern Warfare 4 will bring to the table.
