Fat-cat platforming coming this fall with Garfield – Escape from Monday

What would one chubby tabby do to escape from a plate of spinach lasagne? Find out in this fall’s Garfield – Escape from Monday.

Why does Garfield hate Mondays anyway?

While we don’t know what it is that has the famed orange cat so peeved with Mondays, we do know that it’ll be the central theme for an upcoming 3D platformer. Though, we should also point out that we’re not referring to the day of the week. Nope, instead Garfield will be on the run from the evil Chef Monday. And said action won’t be taking place in the real world either, but in his own dreams.

That was revealed in detail today by Microids and developer OSome Studio, with Garfield – Escape from Monday. This new adventure follows up on Garfield’s lates karting adventure, and looks like it’ll include all the trappings of the iconic comic strip. With that, Jon, Odie, and Pookie will all be present to help out. But don’t get too comfy, because Nermal and Squeak will be on hand as well, to cause a little trouble.

Being that it’s a dreamscape too, fans can expect some way-out looking levels. There’ll be 40 of those, all told, spread out across a trio of worlds. And if you’re looking for power-ups, they’ll be present and accounted for with turkey, cowboy, and surfer suits. As you might imagine too, each of those will provide a special ability.

But while costumes are great and all, this is a Garfield story, so of course there’s going to be food. Chowing down won’t expand his waistline however, as grabbing collectible goodies will both build his morale, and allow for a bit of customization on Jon’s house. While it’s not super clear what that might entail, we do know that players will be able to “refurbish Jon’s house with all kinds of surprising items.”

For Garfield, spending most of his time sleeping is part of the routine. But spiraling into a bizarre nightmare full of vegetables, sugar-free candies, and other unimaginable horrors, even the world’s laziest cat knows something is wrong!

After Jon fed him spinach lasagna inspired by Chef Monday’s recipe, Garfield falls into a deep sleep… in order for Garfield to wake up from the nightmare and reactivate his taste buds, he must embark on a deliciously chaotic adventure, where players will explore worlds packed with enemies, challenges, and lasagna.

Thankfully, Garfield can rely on Jon and his friends Odie, Arlene and Pookie, as well as a collection of special costumes, including turkey, surfer and cowboy, each with its own unique skill, to overcome the dangers lurking within Garfield’s dreams.

Microids press release

Look for Garfield – Escape from Monday to arrive for the Switch, PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC on September 24th, 2026. You’ll be happy to know that we checked too, and that date doesn’t fall on a Monday.
