For the first time, Black Ops will be getting year-over-year sequels, as Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is on the way for later this year.
All the way to the year 2035
Launched last fall, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 took one of the franchise’s most-popular sub-lines back to the 90s. Along with the title’s signature multiplayer and zombies modes, Black Ops 6 featured a campaign packed with characters both familiar and new, as well as a storyline that was framed by real-world events.
Normally, we’d see a different Call of Duty ‘universe’ swapped in for a game as a followup, but what won’t be the case. Much like with Modern Warfare before it, publisher Activision will be sticking with Black Ops for consecutive releases, with developers Treyarch and Raven Software delivering Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 here in 2025.
Set a decade into the future, in the year 2035, the new game will bring players into the action as David Mason. And the world that he and his team will find themselves in? If the first teaser trailer is anything to go by, expect a fear-driven, techno-nightmare.
This new Call of Duty experience will take players to the year 2035 with the most mind-bending Black Ops story to-date. This first-ever consecutive release within the popular Black Ops series, Black Ops 7 takes place more than 40 years after the events of Black Ops 6. With the world in peril and on the brink of chaos, David Mason and his team are tasked with fighting back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.
In Black Ops 7, players can team up with friends or play solo in an exciting new Co-op Campaign, dive into a signature Multiplayer experience packed with brand-new maps and near-future weaponry, and face the next twisted chapter of Round-Based Zombies in the heart of the Dark Aether.
