Call of Duty HQ getting a revamp for Black Ops 6’s impending release

Every Call of Duty fan knows that Black Ops 6 is coming up in short order, and when it drops CoD HQ will be ready for it.

Orders from headquarters

Coming off of the somewhat disappointing release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Activision looks to have an impressive return to the Black Ops universe on tap. The game is set to arrive this coming October, bringing the sub-series’ brand of cloak and dagger action into the 1990s. If you haven’t seen it in action yet, we’ve got the first trailer right here, and a look at the new zombies mode here.

There’s another component to the high-powered FPS series as go its modern incarnations though, and that’d be Call of Duty HQ. A hub for all things CoD, the HQ is getting what looks to be a pretty big overhaul, with new features and some streamlining so fans can better make use of its services.

The alterations haven’t been enacted just yet, but when they go live, fans will be able to make use of:

  • A new streamlined interface
  • Direct access to games
  • More control over their downloads, including Call of Duty: Warzone content
  • Expanded streaming technology to reduce file sizes

Activision press release

As for when all of this will be happening, there’s what seems to be a structured plan to it. Activision says players can look for the improvements to be “rolled out in phases as a series of downloads”. That’ll be a series that also includes shrinking download sizes for future Call of Duty downloads.

So if you’re wondering if Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be a smaller download than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the answer seems to be ‘yes’. Stay tuned for more on all of the above, as we head into the new game’s release window.
