Medieval aRPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance heads to Switch next year

History is set to come to life on the Nintendo Switch next year, with the action RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

By Kingdom Come

While there’s no shortage of fantasy action role-playing games out there in the video game multiverse, there is a decided lack of anything that’s based in actual history. Originally released in 2018, Kingdom Come: Deliverance from Sabre Interactive and Warhorse Studios is kind of the only one that comes to mind. And if you’ve been hankering to see the game’s particular brand of sword n’ shield action come to the Nintendo Switch, then we’ve got some good news for you.

Revealed today, Kingdom Come: Deliverance – Royal Edition will be seeing launch for the console in 2024, and it’s going to be loaded for war. Of course including the base game, the Royal Edition will also come packed with all of the original game’s DLC. That’s a list that includes “Treasures of the Past, From the Ashes, The Amorous Adventures of Bold Sir Hans Capon, Band of Bastards, and A Woman’s Lot.” So yeah, this one should have you questing and sallying forth for quite a while.

Bohemia, a region steeped in culture and strife, awaits your presence. With the death of Emperor Charles IV, chaos reigns, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance thrusts you into a world torn apart by war, corruption, and discord. Wenceslas, the naïve inheritor of the crown, faces a ruthless invasion by Sigismund the Red Fox. Kidnapped and without a ruler, Bohemia is left defenseless.

Caught in the maelstrom, you join Lord Radzig Kobyla’s resistance to fight for the future of Bohemia.

PLAION press release

There’s no trailer just yet for Kingdom Come: Deliverance – Royal Edition, but the game is looking pretty sharp from the screenshots that you see above. Yes, those are Switch screens, and should at least give you an idea of the quality of the finished product. Then again, it’s a title that has been around for a few years now, so it’d be kind of weird if it didn’t look decent running on Nintendo’s hardware.

Stay tuned though, because there’s plenty more to come on this one, as we head into the new year.
