Mark Millar’s “Millarworld” heads to Dark Horse, kicking off in ’24

Comic fans know the name Mark Millar from numerous titles, not the least of which are his own. And now they’ll all be at Dark Horse.

It’s his world, we’re just reading it

Certainly a comics-superstar in his own right, Mark Millar’s catalog of work is massive. A good chunk of that falls under the “Millarworld” heading too, in that it’s wholly his own and loaded with original properties. You know the names too, with the likes of Wanted, Jupiter’s Legacy, and the brutal Nemesis all included.

As you can se form the headline too, it’s been recently revealed that all of that and lots more is heading to Dark Horse Comics. One of the biggest (if not the biggest) ‘indie’ publishers in the world, Dark Horse will start publishing Millarworld titles in 2024, with a slate that includes both single issues and collections.

“Can I just say that I’ve been a Dark Horse fan since the beginning, and this has been a decades long love affair finally consummated?” said Mark Millar. “I’ve loved what Mike and the team have been doing for years and so many of my friends are over there having a great time. I really just wanted to join the party and not only haul my massive, shelf-groaning library with me, but also commit to several years of really exciting stuff in the wake of our Big Game crossover event. We’re launching five new titles in 2024, all of which will be revealed on March 21. Beyond this, I’m working hard on the 2025 launches right now, four completely new series you’re going to love. This feels like a partnership made in heaven already and now the strikes are over and the pandemic is in the rear-view mirror, we can start to roll out all the associated shows and movies at Netflix too. I’m buzzing, but this might just be the booze.”

“I’ve admired Mark’s work for years and I’m very excited to bring his Millarworld of stories to Dark Horse,” said Dark Horse President Mike Richardson. “Mark’s world-building and character creation has put him at the forefront of the comics industry and we couldn’t be happier about welcoming him and his team to Dark Horse. As a big fan, I’m looking forward to seeing what surprises he has in store for us.”

World builder

While this is exciting news for fans of Millar’s various comics, there is going to be a little bit of a wait till we actually see stuff hitting the shelves. The good news is that once the ball gets rolling, there’s going to be quite a few titles seeing publication.

A total of five new series’ will be coming from the new imprint, and that will include a new Nemesis run. There’s no description or creative team just yet for that new book, titled Nemesis: Rogues Gallery, but we know it’ll be popping up some time next year.

Also on the way is some older stuff, set to prime new readers for the newly expanding Millarworld. Those will be along in the summer, beginning in July with (you guessed it) Nemesis.
