Subscribers can dig into a pretty decent selection for September 2023’s list of free PS+ games, including Saints Row.
Infamous (but not the one you’re thinking)
Can we call Saints Row “infamous” yet? It kind of is, as it certainly appears as though the game’s release led to the downfall of a staple development house with Volition. Not that that’s been said in as many words, but the rebooted series was met with copious amounts of derision by fans, who weren’t crazy about the new direction.
For those who don’t know, Volition was closed last week by parent company Embracer Group, after slow sales and middling reviews of 2022’s Saints Row. It’s game that should have been a smash hit, but after modernizing its themes and setting the title in a completely new environment, it didn’t catch on with fans.
If you were in the group that didn’t pick up a copy of the title at retail, then you might want to give it a shot this month. It’s on the list of free games for subscribers after all, so why not? And of course it’s not alone either, with both Black Desert: Traveler Edition and Generation Zero both along for the ride.
All of the above should be up for download as of today, with availability til the 2nd of October.
Saints Row | PS4 and PS5
