Packed with umbrellas, guns, and plenty of action, Gunbrella fires up PC and Switch this month

Outside of comic book crime bosses, when was the last time you saw an umbrella that had a gun? Well, meet Gunbrella.

Stop. Gunbrella time

So yeah, this is a weird one. But as oddball as the premise might be, Devolver Digital and doinksoft’s Gunbrella also looks like a lot of fun. The title sends players into a supernatural, metroidvania-ish world, as an investigator with a gun that’s… well it’s also an umbrella.

Sleuths can use that as a weapon of course, and it sounds like one will definitely be needed, but also as a conveyance. According to Devolver Digital, the umbrella can be used to “glide, swing, dash and dive” across Gunbrella’s world. And that’s not the only unique thing about this game.

Gunbrella will also have what sounds like a full upgrade system, and task players with interrogating “bizarre characters”, keeping track of their investigative notes, and going over the world with a fine tooth comb (not literally).

Gunbrella is a gritty side-scrolling adventure set in a world dependent on a rapidly diminishing natural resource. Fill the rain-soaked boots of a gruff woodsman on a quest for revenge, entering an unfamiliar town armed only with the titular Gunbrella, a high-caliber firearm that doubles as an umbrella…

Devolver Digital press release

Gunbrella is on the way to the Switch and PC this month, debuting on September 13th, 2023. There’s a demo available as well, if you’d like to try the game early, and a bonus too, for those who pre-order. If you reserve your copy right now, you’ll receive a copy of doinksoft’s Gato Roboto for free.
