Modus Games and developer Rain Games’ electrically-charged side-scroller Teslagrad is back, and the upcoming sequel is looking… shockingly good.
Ride the lightning
If you were one of the “multimillion” fans of the original Teslagrad, you’re gonna love what Modus and Rain Games have in store. Yep, the ‘grad is back, and this time sporting a whole new hero, and some brand new side-scrolling challenges to overcome.
Teslagrad 2’s trailer joins new hero, Lumina, as she crash-lands into an uncharted region and discovers an ancient tower brimming with technology. Lumina’s journey will see her harness the forgotten art of Teslamancy, wielding electromagnetic abilities to solve perplexing physics-based puzzles, explore winding caves and industrial chambers, and outwit the mysterious enemies and traps awaiting her.

As you can see there, there’s a bit of a difference in the look of the game. Teslagrad 2 features more of a natural look, in place of the original’s industrial motif. It’s looking great too, with some excellent designs, including that electric… elk?
In any event, the sequel has been in the works for a while, in some form or another. Actually, it’s basically been since the first title released, according to Peter Wingaard Meldahl, the project lead at Rain Games.
“I have been dreaming about making Teslagrad 2 for years,” said Peter Wingaard Meldahl, project lead at Rain Games. “The story, gameplay and mechanics have been fermenting in my head since we released the original, and it is truly an awesome feeling to see this dream materialize.”

Teslagrad 2 is set to arrive for Xbox and PlayStation platforms, the Switch, and the PC some time in 2023.
