It’s another odd month for Game with Gold, as the Xbox’ free game service loads up with Another Sight, Hue, Outpost Kaloki X, and MX vs ATV Alive.
Okay
How do you think Microsoft chooses which games to feature on Games with Gold every month? Get rid of anything from this generation, and then just include everything else in a randomizer?
I get that the service is still existing in a kind of odd space, with Game Pass getting all the attention and everything. But even so, the picks are just plain weird. And there are zero anchor titles.
This month subscribers get Another Sight, which debuted in 2019. But from there, things get decidedly old. There’s also 2016’s Hue for example. Or how about MX vs ATV Alive from 2011? Wait, I know, you’ve been dying to play Outpost Kaloki X, right? That only released in… 2005. Yes, that’s correct.
As I think I’ve said before, it’s not that these are bad games, it’s just that a good chunk of them are bordering on retro. If Microsoft is going to continue the GwG program, and I think they absolutely should, then the company might want to try adding some newer titles again. It wasn’t that long ago that they did just that, and it wouldn’t kill ’em to get back to that. Or maybe it would. I don’t know. Whatever.
In any event, and if you’d like to grab the freebies this month, dates of availability are below.
- Another Sight ($29.99 ERP): Available April 1 to 30
- Hue ($14.99 ERP): Available April 16 to May 15
- Outpost Kaloki X ($9.99 ERP): Available April 1 to 15
- MX vs ATV Alive ($19.99 ERP): Available April 16 to 30
