Prime Gaming deals Indiana Jones, Battlefield and more for August

It’s a good month to be a Prime Gaming member, as Amazon’s PC service adds a set of quality titles, including maybe the best Indy game of all time.

A Lucas classic

If you’ve never played it, and I suspect that there are a lot of ‘modern gamers’ who’ve not, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is adventure-gaming excellence. And when I say that, I don’t mean that in a modern way. No, this is a pure classic, pointing and clicking all the way.

Originally released in 1992 for the PC, FoA spun out of LucasArts. This was a legendary era for the company overall, that saw the release of games like Day of the Tentacle, the legendary X-Wing, and the Super Star Wars series on consoles. But even as the company spread its wings creatively, it was this little adventure title that was my personal favorite.

Aside from the fact that I’m a huge fan of the character, so I’m a bit biased, I’m pretty sure I’m safe in saying that Lucas hit the bullseye here. Fate of Atlantis felt like a ‘real’ Indiana Jones adventure, and in a series that wasn’t fated to see another one of those for a long time, it was Heaven-sent.

The storyline fits right in with the classic Indy tales, the script is pretty darn good, and the look is perfect. Yes, it might be dated in almost every way now, but if you’re a fan too, then by all means play this one. I’m pretty sure you’ll find it worth your time.

Aside from that, there are other great freebies this month too. Both Battlefield 1 and V are still out there (V is coming up, and 1 ends on the 4th), and there’s a solid slate of smaller releases to play as well.

Scroll down to check it all out.
