The mutant corner for Marvel’s universe is about to get a little rocky. That’s of course due to the Trial of Magneto, set to kick of this August.
Trouble
Is mutantkind really united in the pages of Marvel Comics? Or is there something on the horizon that’s about to bring the utopia of Krakoa to an end? It’s fitting, either way, that it’s Magneto that’s at the center of it.
If you missed it, recent events (the Hellfire Gala) have revealed that the Scarlett Witch herself, Wanda Maximoff has been murdered. Not that death means a whole ton on Krakoa, but the event is still about to send shockwaves through the mutant state. And that’s especially true since it’s Magneto that appears to be behind it.
Today Marvel took the wraps off of a trio of covers for the first issue of what’s set to be a landmark mutant-event: The Trial of Magneto. The trial will play out in a mini-series from writer Leah Williams and artist Lucas Werneck, with covers from Valerio Schiti.
He won’t be alone in providing that cover art though, as Marvel will (of course) have a number of variants ready. Those will include pieces from the likes of Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, Elizabeth Torque, Mark Brooks, and John Romita Jr..
Here’s a peek:
The Trial of Magneto #1 (of 5) hits stands on August 18th.
