The Cimmerian set to return in Ablaze’s Man-Eaters of Zamboula

Robert E. Howard’s Conan continues his uncensored journey through the Hyborean realm in Ablaze’s adaptation of Man-Eaters of Zamboula.

A thousand and one nights

Conan has an interesting presence in the world of comics right now. One of the biggest publishing houses in comics is currently holds the license and has run wild with it. If you don’t know who that is, search for “Conan” here on BG and you’ll find it pretty quick.

They’ve got a lot happening with the big guy, most of it not being too close to the source material. And while it’s not what I’d call terrible, it certainly isn’t as rough and tumble as creator Robert E. Howard’s novels.

So it’s a particularly cool thing then, that indie publisher Ablaze is also making Conan books. You’ll find them printed under the title “The Cimmerian”, and they’re the opposite of the ones mentioned above. Ablaze’s Hyborean stories aren’t concerned with superheroes. Actually, they’re loaded-up with content aimed at a more adult audience.

Now the next tale in this series has been revealed. It’s one that the publisher describes as being a “story imbued with orientalism and macabre witchcraft”. Yes, it’s The Man-Eaters of Zamboula. And it kinda/sorta looks like it might have a little nudity in it.

The Cimmerian in the land of a thousand and one nights!
A crossroads of beliefs, languages and cultures, the mythical trading city of Zamboula is also the scene of many dark legends. Upon paying the city a visit, Conan is warned of the dangers of Aram Baksh’s home. It is said that most of the foreigners who stay there disappear under obscure circumstances…and it is precisely there that the Cimmerian is spending the night. But by lifting the veil on these mysterious cases of kidnappings, the Cimmerian will discover another secret, even more terrible, linked to the whole city of Zamboula…

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
