New licensed PS4 headsets coming up from Hyper X

Headset maker Hyper X is on the move again, releasing a pair of PS4-branded headsets just in time for the Holidays.

Hyper X happens to be a favorite here at BG, as we’ve reviewed a number of their headsets over the years. This announcement today though, is a little different than most of the ones that we’ve taken a look at. That’s because these are specifically meant for use with the PS4.

Officially licensed and emblazoned with the colors of Sony’s current-generation console, the new Cloud Chat and Stinger sets should be right at home in PS4 fans’ setups.

“It is a very exciting time for HyperX as we expand our line-up with more officially licensed PlayStation 4 headsets to our console gamer base,” said Andrew Ewing, senior manager console business, HyperX. “Our Cloud Chat headset allows gamers to enjoy their home theatre experience while communicating clearly with their friends. The Cloud Stinger is one of the best values in gaming and the newest version provides PlayStation 4 gamers with unmatched audio experience and comfort enabling them to perform at their best.”

Options, Hyper X has ’em

Hyper X points out that theses are pretty powerful headsets, though both clock in at a nice price point. The Cloud Chat sports 40mm drivers for voice and chat audio. They’re also stocked with a noise-cancelling mic and pop filter. And yes, they have an in-line control system. You can even flip ’em if you like, or just use one ear cups. So some nice options there.

The Cloud Stinger on the other hand, is a little more powerful, but a little less heavy on options. It’s got a 50mm directional driver, swivel-to-mute mic, and on board volume. It’s also incredibly light at just 250 grams, and is adjustable for a more adaptive fit.

Both headsets would be shipping now, with prices of $24.99 USD for the Cloud Chat and $49.99 for the Cloud Stinger.
