Fresh heroes added to DC Collectibles’ new Artists Alley vinyl figure line

DC Collectibles is really cranking on its statue lines here in 2018. With both smaller and large scale pieces on the way, the field is even more packed with expansion of the Artists Alley series. It’s shaping up to be a good year for statue collector’s (but a tough one for wallets).

Vinyl heroes

While most of DC’s statues are either traditional polystone or PVC, these new pieces announced today are vinyl. That’s a material that’s become all the rage in the last few years, mostly due to companies like Funko.

Artists Alley, as a line, makes use of vinyl and is a kind of hybrid series. More figures (not action figures) than statues, Artists Alley was inspired by the “artists alleys” at comic cons the world over. A mainstay of the big shows, the alley is the place where you want to head if you’re looking for autographs or sketches, done on the spot at times, from your favorite pencilers.

It’s an up close and personal kind of thing, where you can get to know the artist and his/her work. As you can imagine, Artists Alley’s tend to draw a big crowd. This line might just do the same, displaying the work of some of the most cutting edge artists out there.

Artists Alley launches officially in June. The first figures to hit will be artist Chris Uminga’s designs of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. After that, “Nooligan” Saulque gives the DCU a “streetwear” makeover with his Joker, Batman, and Harley Quinn in September. Then it’s on to Sho Murase’s Catwoman, Poison Ivy, and Harley Quinn in November. Murase’s figures will sport variants too, which will be decked out in Holiday-is colors.
