The Evil Within 2 gets a first-person mode in its latest update

Want to get up close and personal with The Evil Within 2’s nasties? Then you’re going to love the latest update for the horror game.

First-person terror

As a series, The Evil Within doesn’t really shy away from full-on horror. Actually, it’s kind of known for that… and a never-ending sense of overtly stressful tension. So I guess it’d be fair to say then, that both of those selling-points just got cranked up to 11.

That’s because The Evil Within 2 now has a full-blown first-person mode.

“A lot of players like playing horror games in first-person, so for those who want to see some of the game’s situations through Sebastian’s eyes, it’s a really neat experience,” said Tango Gameworks’ producer, Shinsaku Ohara. “I think exploring Union in first-person makes the scale feel even bigger than it does when you’re in third-person. Also, being able to see our environments and enemies up close allows players to get an even better look at how much effort went into their designs.”

As you can see, this new gameplay mode will get you up close and extremely personal with the horrifying things in Bethesda’s 2017 scarefest. As you can also see, it’s totally free.

The first-person mode is complementary for owners of the game. Once downloaded it can also be flipped on or off via the main menu. Apparently you can also do so at will, which is pretty nice. So no worries about starting in third-person, and not being able to switch to first. It should be easy-peasy.

And if this update has you thinking that you might want to play The Evil Within 2, but you’re not sure you want to buy it, don’t forget that Bethesda has you covered. That free trial version of the game is very much still available.
