Costume Quest 2 highlights May’s Games with Gold

Sure we’re a little shy of a week into May, but the free games in Microsoft’s Xbox Games with Gold promo are no less… free.

Not a terrible selection of games this month in the old GwG queue if you’re an Xbox Live subscriber. Two 360 games and two Xbox One titles once again highlight the offerings, with all four of them being purchasable and playable on Microsoft’s newer console.

Here’s what’s up for May’s freebies, straight from Major Nelson himself:

A little of of everything there in May’s Games with Gold selection, and though there’s nothing in there that’ll bowl you over with awesomeness, there is some can’t miss stuff to be honest. Though the first installment is the one that gets all the good press, Costume Quest in any form is a good thing, and Peggle is something that every gamer should probably check out. As a fan myself, it’s just a little bit addictive… okay a lot. And all of this is much easier to check out and try of course, when it’s all 100% free of charge (as long as you subscribe to Xbox Live Gold).

Breaking things down a bit, all month long you’ll be able to snag Defense Grid 2 on the Xbox One, while Costume Quest 2 will be free from the 16th through the 15th of June. Over on the Xbox 360 meanwhile (though again, you can play all this stuff on the XO through the magic of back-compat), we’ve got Grid 2 racing the free track through the 15th of this month. Peggle? That little gem picks up right after that, with its deal running from the 16th through the 31st.

Not bad Games with Gold, not bad at all. Happy free gaming everybody.
