Those thinking that Bethesda wouldn’t be busy after the XBOX reformatting might want to think again. A ton of Fallout (and more) is coming.

A whole new XBOX
There’s been a monster amount of prognosticating and general misinformation flying around social media as goes XBOX. Okay, we admit that’s nothing new, but this latest dose has come in the wake of the freshly enacted restructuring.
That was initiated by new honcho Asha Sharma, who’s been on a tear since she took over. Most of what’s been done has been overwhelmingly positive, though there’s the glaring exception of the wide swath of layoffs. Those are something that nobody should like to see in ay circumstance, understandable or not. You can make rationalizations, but it’s just not cool to see people losing their livelihoods.
Still, we digress, because the news has mainly translated to be what looks to be a refocusing of the brand. And by that, we mean emphasizing the XBOX console experience (complete with exclusives), making fan-feedback-fueled alterations and updates, and turning development back to games that fans are most wanting to see. And that happens to be where Bethesda comes in.
Bethesda’s classic series’
Bethesda has had a kind of odd few years. Maybe more than a few. The house is pretty obviously one of the biggest and most influential under the XBOX umbrella, but hasn’t produced a new game in one of its own lines in ages.
We don’t mean games that Bethesda publishes either, like DOOM, and we’re not counting Starfield, as that was the start of something new. Instead, we’re pointing squarely at The Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Yes, there’s been the promise of a sixth TES for ages, but fans haven’t seen hide nor hair of it, basically since it was announced in 2018. And as great as the updates for The Elder Scrolls Online have been, they’re just not the same.
Now flip the coin and consider Fallout, because it’s really been in the same exact boat. It’s almost unfathomable that there wasn’t a brand new entry in the series pushed out, considering how popular the TV show has been.
Nevertheless though, there hasn’t been a sniff of one. Instead, Bethesda has been releasing multiple updates for Fallout 76. Don’t get us wrong, because that’s turned into a very well received game since it’s iffy release, but where is the brand new Fallout?
Well, hang on, because if the company’s statement on social media is anything to go by, there’s a whole new era coming.
Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, and more
It all went down last Friday, with Bethesda unleashing an absolute tidal wave of news. Included therein was, first and foremost, a confirmation that Starfield content is not set to be cut. Fans of the sci-fi action/RPG will still be getting more of it, coming up in 2027.
After that word though, Fallout took the stage, with the confirmation that “multiple Fallout projects” are in “active development right now”. And yes, the biggest of those would be Fallout 5, which is thankfully now in pre-production. Get ready though, because the long-rumored remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are on the way as well. But even that’s not all.
Publicly welcoming in developer Obsidian Entertainment as a collaborator, Bethesda says the two groups are working on yet another “new Fallout project”. We have to imagine that’s New Vegas 2, but there were no confirmations one way or the other.
Finally, there’s The Elder Scrolls VI. With primary status locked in, the role-playing sequel is apparently playable in some form right now. Bethesda says that it’s “where we planned to be” on it, and that the company is “loving how it looks”. Nice to hear.
That’s one heck of a lot of good news for fans of the various properties under the Bethesda umbrella. The official statement included a bit more as well, so if you’d like to get the full story, click there for the official site.
And as for all of the above, stay tuned. We’ll have more official word as soon as it’s released.
