Daniel and co. crack some skulls in today’s The Karate Kid: Street Rumble

Let’s get ready to rumble… through the original Karate Kid movie trilogy in side-scrolling actioner The Karate Kid: Street Rumble.

Are there two more obvious things to combine than The Karate Kid and an arcade-y, side-scrolling action game? It seems like something that should have been obvious for decades, but GameMill (in conjunction with Sony Pictures Consumer Products) and developer Odaclick are the first ones to take a crack at it. From the looks of the title, which has just been released today, it seems like it could be a fun time too.

Players battle their way, more or less, through the original three films in the property. These aren’t exactly the movies as you remember them however, as players can field major characters Daniel LaRusso, Mr. Miyagi, Ali Mills, and Kumiko throughout 12 levels, ranging from the beautiful San Fernando Valley to Japan’s Okinawa.

Set across the iconic locations of the first three classic The Karate Kid movies, The Karate Kid: Street Rumble takes you out of the dojo and into the streets of the 1980s San Fernando Valley and Okinawa. Battle waves of challenging enemies in this fast-paced, side-scrolling beat ’em up adventure, brought to life with colorful pixel-art visuals and vibrant chiptune music.

Play as Daniel LaRusso, Mr. Miyagi, Ali Mills, and Kumiko as you take on Johnny Lawrence, John Kreese, Terry Silver and other rivals intent on gaining dominance over Miyagi-Do Karate forever.  Master intense martial arts combat in frenetic brawls inspired by iconic arcade beat ’em ups.

GameMill Entertainment press release

The Karate Kid: Street Rumble is out right now for current Xbox and PlayStation platforms, the Switch, and the PC.
