Sega launches an “OST” for Sonic X Shadow Generations, giving fans a preview of its tunes

We can’t say we’ve ever seen an “OST” before, but that’s just what Sega has unleashed for Sonic (and Shadow) fans.

Sonic tunes

While we’re used to getting sneak-peeks at new and upcoming games, we can’t say we’ve gotten too many sneak-listens. That’s just what Sega has dropped for fans today though, with the first of what sounds like a series of OST’s for Sonic X Shadow Generations.

The video has a slick motion-comic styled image of Shadow, as he grinds a light-rail across one of Generations’ levels. Accompanying that repeating visual is the first-listen for the remix of Kingdom Valley Act 1, originally composed by Mariko Nanba, and now remixed by Audissi Studios.

ONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS is set to release both digitally and physically on October 25, 2024, starting at £44.99 on PlayStation®5 (PS5®), PlayStation®4 (PS4®), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch™ family of systems, and PC. Fans can pre-order today and receive a legacy skin for Modern Sonic based on his look from Sonic Adventure! Players who pre-order the Physical Day One Edition will also receive Gerald Robotnik’s 28-page journal, chronicling his experience creating Shadow and the Ark Space Station.

Sega press release

As you can see, we’ve got a few months time left before Sonic X Shadow Generations arrives for consoles and the PC. And if you’re going to be picking the game up, then you might want to sign up for Sega’s email newsletter too. Fans have until November 1st to do so, and will get a reward for their trouble.

Those who sign up before the magical end-date will be granted a “Sonic Jam Legacy Skin for Classic Sonic”, for use in the game. That’s a cool, polygonal-looking skin that reflects the little blue guy’s very first 3D appearance. Click here to check out the official site, and get all the details.
