UFC teams up with McFarlane for new collectibles

The UFC is coming to collectors’ shelves soon, thanks to McFarlane Toys’ new deal with the mixed martial arts company.

Fight!

From somewhat humble beginnings decades ago, the UFC has become one of the biggest and post powerful forces in combat sports. And while the brand has had collectibles and action figures out there in the past, including the recent Jazwares series, there’s nothing on store shelves right now. But hang on, because there are new collectibles coming up, and probably pretty soon.

Today McFarlane Toys and the UFC have announced a new licensing agreement, via UFC’s licensing agency, IMG. And it looks as though the deal will deliver both physical and digital collectibles to fans. Notice we didn’t say ‘action figures’ in that line above though.

That’s because it also looks as though McFarlane’s offerings won’t include posable toys. The press release spells out that the line will include “UFC’s most iconic athletes and moments as 6”, ultra-detailed, posed, physical and digital figures.”

Fans can look for the above to start hitting stores this year, landing in stores and on online shops this fall. Scroll down to check out some quotes on the new deal.

Todd McFarlane, Founder and CEO McFarlane Toys, commented, “Since UFC burst onto the sports scene, this brand has been growing bigger and bigger every year.  It now stands as one of the premiere brands in sports, as hundreds of millions of fans globally have embraced its thrilling, non-stop action. And now, for us to be able to do some cool things with authentic-looking figures, both physically and digitally, it’s going to be a real treat. I can’t wait!”

Tracey Bleczinski, Senior Vice President Global Consumer Products at UFC, said, “We’re excited to partner with McFarlane Toys, one of the most respected manufacturers of intricate collectible figures in the industry. UFC fans are among the most passionate in all of sports and we are confident in McFarlane’s ability to deliver authenticity to our fans with a collection of unique, accurately crafted figures, inspired by some of UFC’s most elite athletes.”
