Ambulances, caskets, and backstage brawls, here’s the first full look at WWE 2K24 in action

There’s going to be a lot for wrestling fans to dig into with WWE 2K24, as 2K and Visual Concepts’ grappler hits the high marks.

Legacy

Try, if you can, to put all of the controversies surrounding the real-life WWE out of your mind for a second. Because even though they’re some of the biggest oddities and issues to hit the brand in a long time, there’s a pretty great looking wrestling game featuring it too, and it’s coming up fast.

We got our first real look at WWE 2K24 yesterday, with a trailer and some some fresh details, all of which should make fans happy. That might be doubly true for longtime fans, with the 40 years of Wrestlemania mode, which looks chock full of some of the biggest ‘wrestling’ moments of all time.

We’re right in that category at BG, so to see the biggest matches in Wrestlemania history getting their due, well it hits the mark just fine. Names like Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin and more will all feature in that mode, and in a big way as players act out the most impactful matches ever.

Not that that’s all that’s included in the new look at the game. Fans also get a glimpse of match types like the infamous Casket Match, the Ambulance Match, and the long awaited return of the Special Guest Referee option. If you don’t know what that is, you get to take the place of a ref, with the task of calling the fight straight down the middle. Yep, totally fair and unbiased. Or not.

Here’s a look:

The trailer kicks off with high-impact footage of Roman Reigns and LA Knight competing in the new Ambulance Match, where the goal is to wear an opponent down, put them in the back of the ambulance and battle to close the doors and win the match. Next, a series of sneak peeks at the 2K Showcase…of the Immortals, celebrating 40 years of WrestleMania history, highlights historic moments featuring several of the biggest Superstars and Legends of all time, including Hulk Hogan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Rhea Ripley, The Ultimate Warrior, Charlotte Flair, John Cena, Triple H, The Undertaker, and more.

2K Games press release

Featuring over 200 modern superstars and legends of the ring, WWE 2K24 is on the way to Xbox and PlayStation platforms, plus the PC on March 8th. That’s for the global release of all versions, though you can play a few days earlier if you grab the Deluxe Edition or 40 Years of Wrestlemania Edition (complete with new ‘cover’). Those digital only versions of the game hit on the 5th.
