Dark Horse’s 2024 Free Comic Book Day offerings serves up Stranger Things, Hellboy

It’s a hefty dose of horror that’s on the way for Free Comic Book Day 2024, courtesy of Dark Horse Comics’ “Gold” Issue.

Stranger still

Two huge properties are coming to Free Comic Book Day 2024, from one of the biggest indie publishers in the industry. As you can see above we mean Dark Horse Comics, and the properties that are set to headline the book are two of its biggest, with Hellboy and Stranger Things.

Cover art from Mike Mignola and Dave Stewart

Yes, it’s just one issue that’s set to serve as Dark Horse’s “Gold” level title for the yearly giveaway event, but with two tales included. The Hellboy story will star the main man himself, and hail from his legendary creator, Mike Mignola.

Another Hellboy alum, Márk László will be serving as artist for the story, with Dave Stewart onboard for colors and Clem Robins providing the lettering. On the flip side, Stranger Things: Deliver Me From Evil will feature the talents of writer Derek Fridolfs, and Jonathan Case. Case will be doing both art and colors for the story, with Nate Piekos on as letterer.

  • In Hellboy “The Fortune Teller,” a murder investigation leads to a mysterious Romanian fortune teller who is way too interested in Hellboy’s past and future.
  • Then, in Stranger Things, “Deliver Me from Evil,” Argyle and Jonathan swap fantastical and scary tales as they make one last pizza delivery for the night.

Dark Horse Comics’ Free Comic Book Day “Gold” issue will be available at participating comics shops on Free Comic Book Day (naturally). If you’re wondering, that’s May 4th, 2024.

About Jason

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
