Tying into Ubisoft’s upcoming game, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora hits comic book stands next year

Set to tie into the the upcoming Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora game, Dark Horse’s new comic book mini-series will kick off 2024.

Avatar returns

An action game that sends players into the familiar world of Jim Cameron’s sci-fi universe, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is set to launch for consoles and PC this December. But it won’t be the only new piece of fiction that brings the strange, alien world back to fans this year.

Dark Horse Comics will be delivering a new comic book mini-series, and it will tie directly into this year’s game. The comic will star the talents of Ray Fawkes, Gabriel Guzmán, Michael Atiyeh, and Michael Heisler, and feature what should be some terrific cover illustrations from painter and muralist Aniekan Udofia on issues 1-3. After that, fans can look for the team of Gabriel Guzmán and Michael Atiyeh to take over for the covers on numbers 4-6.

The whole thing begins in February.

The next evolution of James Cameron’s immersive universe takes shape in Ubisoft’s Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, where players will experience an open-world action-adventure as a member of the Na’vi fighting against the RDA for the sovereignty of their homeworld. This six-issue miniseries tie-in introduces readers to new characters and clans and provides the origin story of one of the critical characters in Ubisoft’s new game.

Meet So’lek—a Na’vi warrior who must go on a transformative journey across Pandora. While the battle of the Hallelujah Mountains is over, the trauma of war is never-ending. Alone, desperate, and grief-stricken, So’lek must look to Eywa and find a path towards healing. Though danger, doubt, and pain await him, he must answer the call.

Dark Horse Comics press release

As mentioned, look for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora to kick off in early 2024, with issue #1 (of 6) on February 28th, 2024. As for the same-name game that it’s based on, that will arrive just a tad earlier for the PC and consoles, on December 7th, 2023.
