Nintendo Download: Finish Him!

MORTAL KOMBAT. After months of waiting, Mortal Kombat 1 makes its way to retail this week, including the Switch.

Why no Mortal Monday though?

Yes it’s finally time for the soft-reboot of NetherRealm’s fighting universe that is Mortal Kombat 1. The one-on-one (with some assists) battler will reset the continuity of the MK series, with some major alterations brought over from the fallout of the original timeline.

Aside from the story bumps though, this new MK is looking like a revitalized fighter, complete with a new look and new elements like Kameos. Basically assist-characters, these Kameo partners can tag in and deal out some major damage to foes. Speaking of, it certainly looks like the famed Fatalities are bigger and badder than ever in MK1. We still have a few days to go before the title hits the Switch, but it should be interesting to see just what kind of a portable experience the graphics-intensive title can deliver.

But if Mortal Kombat isn’t your thing, you still might be in luck this week on Switch. There’s a bunch of great looking stuff landing, including Baten Kaitos’ HD remasters, the massive board game adaptation that is Gloomhaven, and the usual pile of smaller launches.

Scroll down to check ’em all out.
