Ooohhhh YEAH, Wrestlequest melds 80s wrestling with fantasy role-playing today

At last ready to take on all challengers and claim the title for its own, Mega Cat Studios and Skybound’s Wrestlequest is here.

Listen up maggot

While the iconic wrestling action of the sport’s golden age and classically-styled RPG gameplay might not seem like a match made in heaven, it certainty looks like an ultimate pairing in this launch trailer. Developer Mega Cat Studios has signed a ton of big names for this one too, so while the adventure might be a fantastical one, long-time wrestling fans are going to see and interact with a whole mess of familiar faces.

Oh, and did we mention that the whole thing plays out in a 16bit(ish) style, with characters that look like action figures? Well, it does and they do.

In WrestleQuest, players assume the role of a young wrestling hopeful, on their quest to become one of the all-time greats by powerbombing, slamming, and suplexing their way to the top. Inspired by icons like the legendary “Macho Man” Randy Savage, our hero must immerse himself in the world of professional wrestling, which will test not only his athleticism but also his will and spirit.

Skybound Entertainment press release

Packed with the likes of “Booker T, Andre The Giant, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, Diamond Dallas Page, Jeff Jarrett” and more, Wrestlequest is out now for Xbox and PlayStation platforms, the Switch, and the PC. Mobile gamers who are also Netflix subscribers will also be able to get in on the action, thanks to the entertainment giant’s gaming push. The title is included with all subscriptions.
