World War Z: Aftermath unleashes a Holy Terror (it’s an update with a new map, weapons and more)

The battle against the undead continues in World War Z: Aftermath, with an update that adds a map, new weapons, perks, challenges and more.

Rise from your grave

World War Z: Aftermath just keeps on rolling. The game, from Saber Interactive, is of course based on the World War Z film that came out in 2013, and has become a hit in its own right. It’s actually continued to evolve as well, debuting its “XL” Mode this year for the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game.

It’s that specific edition that will get a little extra oomph from this new “Holy Terror” update too, with a new Rome map for Horde Mode XL. That’ll feature a fight for survival in the shadow of the Italian city’s Colosseum, against over a thousand zombies.

There’ll be mutators available for that and the original Horde Mode, to change things up, plus daily and weekly challenges. Saber Interactive adds that players should have an easier time finding teammates too, with the quick match system.

Perks receive an update as well with Holy Terror, bringing a fourth upgrade path and nine new perks for each class. But that’s not all, as there are new weapon perks too, and two new pieces of hardware with the the 1877 SBL Repeating Rifle and the MRL202 “Commando” Multi-shot Rocket Launcher. That should clear out some rotters nicely.

Holy Terror is out right now for all versions of World War Z: Aftermath, with the new Rome map arriving exclusively for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions.
