Presenting the team in what’s become its most iconic form, the classic X-Men cartoon is coming back to TV… and toy shelves.

Much like a few other superhero cartoon shows that should immediately spring to mind, the X-Men show from the 90s has more or less cemented its depiction of its title characters as their most iconic forms. Somehow the creative team behind it rolled out the best and most time-tested vision of the team.
The show gave fans a core squad of X-Men that consisted of what’s easily become their most iconic forms. That’s aside from the fact that it had an excellent voice-cast, and also adapted many of the comic book’s biggest storylines, with occasionally unique twists. So with all of that, it’s no surprise that it’s stood the test of time. And now, thanks to the Disney+ streaming platform, it’s coming back.
The new show, X-Men ’97, will pick up where the original program left off, bringing the X-Men back to late-90s action. It’ll have largely the same cast, and of course all the X-Men that made the show famous. So with that in mind, of course Hasbro was going to launch right into a toy line to accompany it.
The new series isn’t a rehash of the Hasbro Pulse cel-shaded look figures that we saw recently, with the “VHS”-style packaging. These are carded, in the ‘retro’ style, and offer some new sculpting to go along with the series-accurate costuming.
Wave 1 will be six characters deep, and include all A+ X-Men like Gambit, Bishop, and of course Wolverine. The full series is set to hit stores this fall, with the standard Marvel Legends $24.99 USD price attached.

More than just Legends
Aside from the Marvel Legends rebirth for X-Men ’97, there’s also a Target-exclusive “Team UP Pack” coming. That will feature the 4-inch “Epic Hero” line of kids-directed figures. We’ve seen those promoted in the last few weeks, but this new offering includes most of the X-Men figures in one neat little box set.
The pack looks to include all of the accessories from those standalone releases as well, like clip-on power-blasts and other effect pieces. You can look for it in stores this fall as well, along with the above Marvel legends figures, though this one will again be exclusive to Target stores.
