Return to the Middle East in Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Ubisoft is taking its historical/sci-fi saga back to where it all began with Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Check out the PlayStation showcase footage.

Welcome hidden one

Assassin’s Creed Mirage was announced as a part of a massive return for the franchise, which will have a few titles arriving over the next couple of years. At the time, there wasn’t much to see or read about any of those games though, and Ubisoft pretty much went quiet thereafter.

That’s to say, till now, and today’s PlayStation showcase event. It’s there that the wraps were fully taken off, and while we still don’t have a lot of story details, we definitely got a good look at Assassin Basim in action.

In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you are Basim, a cunning street thief with nightmarish visions, seeking answers and justice. After an act of deadly retribution, Basim flees Baghdad and joins an ancient organization – The Hidden Ones. As he learns their mysterious rituals and powerful tenets, he will hone his unique abilities, discover his true nature, and come to understand a new Creed – one that will change his fate in ways he never could have imagined.

The more things change, the more they stay the same for Assassin’s Creed, which both looks familiar and fresh in this first-look. Not only does Basim carry all of the well-known Assassin weaponry, but he seems more apt to combat, and more eager to take on multiple forms at once.

Also, it’s probably worth noting that the game is looking awesome running on PS5… not that it’s an exclusive. While it was intro’d at today’s event, Mirage will be hitting the PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC as well, when it drops on October 12th.
