Kahless II and his rule over the Klingon Empire is taking center stage for IDW’s god-slaying, Star Trek crossover event, Day of Blood.
A new Day is dawning
If you haven’t noticed, Star Trek is as hot as a Vulcan summer once again. The third season of Star Trek: Picard has brought the brand back to its former glory almost singlehandedly, and there are rumbles of much more.
But aside from a possible new “Legacy” series that would continue the 25th century action, there’s also a budding comic book universe to talk about. That comes by way of publisher IDW, which has a pair of books out now, and a crossover event planned out for this year.
The Benjamin Sisko-starring Star Trek heads up this young collection, which is joined by Star Trek: Defiant. That book figures TNG and DS9 veteran Worf in the main role, and will play a pivotal role in Day of Blood.
An ominous name for sure, Day of Blood sounds like it’s going to fit the title pretty well. More or less, it will present a new threat to not only the Federation, but all enemies of the Klingons as well. That’s because the Empire’s head, Kahless II, is on a rampage and crossing the galaxy on a quest to wipe out all other gods.
Yep, you read that right.
A summer of Blood
Beginning in July with the Star Trek: Day of Blood #1 one-shot special, the emperor of the Klingon Empire, Kahless II, will declare war on all those who do not follow the cult of the Red Path! Having raided ancient tombs, claimed near-limitless power for himself, and slaughtered cosmic entities across the stars, Kahless sees the genocide of gods as simply his first step to total domination. The iconic crew of the U.S.S. Theseus, led by Benjamin Sisko, and the renegades who follow a desperate, violent Worf aboard the U.S.S. Defiantmust unite for a common cause. Only together can they hope to stop the Day of Blood!
IDW press release
