The Penitent One returns, as Blasphemous 2 is on the way

It’s time to get penitent, and restart the cycle of death(s) and rebirth(s). Team17 Digital and The Game Kitchen have revealed Blasphemous 2.

*Kneels*

First released in 2019, Blasphemous became an indie sensation, capturing the attention of players across pretty much every platform. The title presented a tough battle through a dark fantasy/horror world, where dying was as expected as rebirth.

Now that game’s hero, The Penitent One, has been disturbed from his eternal slumber once again. The Miracle has returned, plunging players into a whole new world of exploration and action.

As with the original Blasphemous, you can’t really go the wrong way in Blasphemous 2, as play is most definitely non-linear in style. Also as in its predecessor, Blasphemous 2 will see fans upgrading their Penitent Ones for the still challenges the lay in wait for them. And yes, that includes some brutal boss fights.

Set after the events of the original Blasphemous’ 2021 update Wounds of EventideBlasphemous 2 sees the return of the supernatural entity The Miracle, leaving The Penitent One no choice but to explore a strange unfamiliar world, defeat the monstrosities that lay in wait, and try to stop the prophetic birth of a new miracle child from coming to pass. Featuring grotesque enemies and titanic bosses clambering to return him to the grave, The Penitent One will need to utilise and master new weapons and an enhanced skillset and try to survive long enough to deliver judgment to those who stand in his way, while unravelling long forgotten secrets.

Draw thine sword and prepare for the horrors to come, Blasphemous 2 is on the way for the Xbox Series X|S, PS5, Switch, and PC some time later this year.
