Been waiting to play CD Projekt Red’s epic RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt? Want to see it in all its splendor on modern consoles? You’re in luck.
Beautiful world
If you’re an RPG fan, you’ve likely played The Witcher 3 already. CD Projekt Red’s gigantic open-world title was a beast, scoring huge with both critics and fans. Since its launch way back in 2015, it’s seen expansions, as well as a porting (somehow) to the Switch. But this might be the game’s finest moment yet, as it is now making its way to the current generation of consoles.
Dubbed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – The Complete Edition, the new version of the game will have quite a bit of fresh content. Though, that said, the star of the show will undoubtably be the “dozens of visual, performance, and technical enhancements over the original”.
Fans can expect to see all of that post-launch content included here, as well as “ray tracing support, faster loading times on consoles, as well as a variety of mods integrated into the experience, among many others”. You’ll notice “on consoles” there, since the Complete Edition will also be appearing on the PC. That will bring that platform’s copy in line with the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S’ versions.
Aside from all of that though, the game will also ship with some new stuff. Content from The Witcher show on Netflix will be the main draw there, with much more in terms of description coming next week. That’ll be delivered via a REDstreams presentation, so stay tuned for that.
Oh, and that Netflix content won’t be locked to the new version of the game either. Everyone who owns the previous generation’s The Witcher 3 will get that too, plus some of those improvements. And of course, you can get down on The Complete Edition if you have a copy of the game already as well. So you don’t have to buy it again. That’s to say, unless you want a boxed copy.
Those will be coming up, though the initial launch of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition will be digital only. Look for it on December 14th, 2022.
