PowerTown Wrestling figures get pre-order date, first look at packaging, more

PowerTown Wrestling is set to release its first volley of collector figures, headlined by some of the greatest wrestlers of all time.

Thesz press!

There’s no way around it, there are a massive amount of wrestling figures out there right now. Figures of modern stars are plentiful, both online and in stores. And though those asme lines do dip into wrestling history, it’s usually only as far back as the 80s.

That though, is about to change, thanks to PowerTown Wrestling, a company created by Greg Gagne and Steve Rosenthal. Well, created with an assist from Magnum TA himself. Yes, that Magnum TA. No, PTW isn’t a promotion, it’s an action figure company.

And it’s one that’s centering its offering slate on the all-time greats of the sport.

“When Steve and Greg approached me with the concept of PowerTown Wrestling, I knew this was something I wanted to be a part of to celebrate decades of wrestling icons,”

Terry Allen “Magnum TA”

When was the last time you saw an action figure of Lou Thesz? How about Bruiser Brody? Ever seen one of Verne-freaking-Gagne?! Those icons of wrestling history rarely get any kind of collectibles, let alone high-level ones.

Here’s a packaged-preview of what PowerTown will have out soon:

Of course that’s Bruiser Brody shown above, in a first look at the box art and design. It’s definitely got a slightly retro vibe to it, hard not to see that. But at the same time, it holds a bunch of modern collector-friendly elements. Those include a fold out on the front, with a bit about the personality on the inside. It certainly seems as though the box should be ‘collector friendly’ as well. It’s always nice to see that.

As for what’s inside, the figures will be cast in the 7″ scale and include a bunch of accessories. Those will be along the lines of title belts, signature items, clothing, interchangeable hands, “and more”.

“We have seen a tremendous response from our fans on the detailed look, build, and add-on features for our figures,” notes Rosenthal, “and we will continue bringing this excitement as we develop Series 2, 3, and other over-the-top creative collectibles.”

Ringing the bell

As mentioned, not only do we have the first look at the packaging, but we’ve also got release info. The line is finally about to hit pre-order, with an eye on “early 2023” for a delivery window.

September 16th will be the date when you’ll be able to buy in, which you can do via PowerTown Wrestling’s online shop. The figures will be priced at $45 USD each, and wave 1 will include:

  • Verne Gagne
  • Lou Thesz
  • Stan Hansen
  • Bruiser Brody
  • Magnum TA
  • Kerry Von Erich

Gagne concludes, “Whether you are a long-time collector or you grew up watching old-school wrestlers as a kid, this line has something for everyone.”
