Pull back the curtain on Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2’s development

Coming along is the sequel to one of the biggest Warhammer 40K video games of all time. Time to go behind the scenes on Space Marine 2.

Bolters ready

There are now, and have been, a lot of video games based on Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40K universe. Like, a lot. Most of them are middling at best, with a few standouts. That’s particularly true in the modern era, where the brand has seen some stellar titles turned in, and a good number of decent ones.

One of the very best though, has arguably been Space Marine. A title that saw release in 2011, Space Marine put players in the boots of one of the Ultramarines, a chapter of the Astartes, and one of the Imperium’s stalwart protectors.

The game was bloody, packed with action, and reveled in its license. And for a long time after its release, that was it. Fast forward to last year though, and Space Marine 2 was announced by Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive.

Captain Titus returns in this new adventure, which should continue the original’s cliffhanger story. And along with him, comes actor Clive Standen (Vikings, Taken), who’ll be reprising his role. Focus spoke to Standen as a part of the Warhammer “Skulls Showcase” yesterday, about his role and thoughts on the IP.

Along with that, a new video presentation also takes a brief look at the game’s creation. So it’s a bit of an interview, and a bit of a ‘behind the scenes’.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is set for launch on the Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. There’s no release date just yet, so keep an eye out for that.
