The Kingpin sets his sights on NYC’s heroes in Devil’s Reign

Coming up to round out the year, Marvel Comics has a “classic-style” crossover planned with Devil’s Reign. Expect shocks, and a few new series’.

The devil you say

No, not Daredevil, though he’s in Devil’s Reign for sure. But that subtitle refers to the Kingpin of Crime himself, Wilson Fisk. He’s got his sights set on bigger and badder things in the Marvel U, and he’s starting with his hometown.

NYC will be the target, or more specifically, the heroes of NYC. And Marvel Comics means that in the broadest of scopes. We’re not just talking about street-level characters like Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Luke Cage here. Kingpin is set to hit Iron Man, Captain America, and even the FF.

Is he biting off more than he can chew? Probably, but that’s Fisk for you.

Wilson Fisk went from Kingpin to mayor of the biggest city in America and is going to bring his full criminal and political power to bear on the super heroes who call NYC home. The man who once destroyed Daredevil has set his sights on The Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and more. And since it’s Fisk, once he takes them all down, you know he’s going to sign it. CROSSBONES! TASKMASTER! TYPHOID MARY! SHOCKER! WHIPLASH! RHINO! KRAVEN! Fisk has an army of super villains at his command – and this is just his opening salvo. For years, Fisk has waited for his time to strike, and YOU WON’T BELIEVE the aces he’s got up his sleeves!

Marvel Comics

Marvel says to expect not just some big surprises, but a few new comics series’ to spin out of Devil’s Reign. I’m also pretty encouraged by the “classic-style” tag they’re giving this one. Finger’s crossed that it actually is.

To that end, the creative team is top notch, with Chip Zdarsky crafting the tale, and Marco Checchetto lending his art. It all starts up in Devil’s Reign #1 (of 6), this December the 1st.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
