Chaosbane, Samurai Showdown 2 and more hit Games with Gold for September

Xbox Games with Gold has a good month coming up, headlined by the terrific action-RPG from Nacon and Eko Software Warhammer: Chaosbane.

Draw your sword

Depending on your tastes, there are some gems in this coming month’s Games with Gold. Chief among those is Warhammer: Chaosbane, an aRPG that’s near and dear to my own heart.

Chaosbane came out a few years ago, and while I can’t say it was a huge hit, it did provide a heaping helping of fun action-role-playing. Set in the classic Games Workshop Warhammer universe, Chaosbane casts players in the role of one of four iconic hero-types, each one set to the mission of purging the Chaos-spawn from their home city.

Things expand from there of course, and the plot that unfolds is actually pretty slick, encompassing many different aspects of the Olde World. We reviewed the game here for the Series X|S, and here for the PC, and as you can see liked it pretty darn well.

If for some reason though, aRPG goodness doesn’t float your boat, you might be interested in a little classic fighting game action. That’s free this coming month too, courtesy of Samurai Showdown II from SNK. Yes, it’s a 360 game, but much like the best of the 2D fighters, SamSho doesn’t really age. At all.

Also up this month, and speaking of the 360, will be Konami’s cult classic Zone of the Enders. And if you want to get a little more modern, there’s also Mulaka.

As usual, not all of the above will be available; at the same time. Microsoft likes to stagger GwG releases through the month-to-be, so you’ll find all of the appropriate days and times below.
